Using Craigslist via RSS

When searching for jobs, I have found that I get a decent rate of high-quality leads by creating several custom searches at craigslist and creating RSS feeds from them, which help manage which ones you've read and found interesting.

I have created feeds with very specific, niche terms and feeds with broad coverage. This way, if a job comes up in a highly specialized niche, which I'm qualified for, I'll know about it without having to sift through the pile of jobs that get posted to the software category daily. If the niche is so specialized that jobs aren't posted there daily, you can quickly move to one of your broader searches and review those.

Any craigslist search url can be converted to an RSS feed by adding format=rss to the url.
For instance, here is a search, one that just brings up a regular craigslist page and one that is an RSS feed:
http://seattle.craigslist.org/search/sof?query=oracle

http://seattle.craigslist.org/search/sof?query=oracle&format=rss

Knowing this you can go to your favorite RSS reader and add a subscriptions using a URL such as the latter and get a steady feed of job leads with your own custom search criteria.

I use Google Reader; http://www.google.com/reader/view/
It really doesn't matter the reader though, the key to the success of this is that you can increase the quality of leads, decrease the time spent hunting through them, and increase the chance that you will see a quality lead soon after it's been posted.
